We wanted to make a difference in the lives of some of Houston's stray and neglected animals
All three kids have attended the Houston SPCA critter camps in the past and we have been impressed with the facility and with the fact that they take in all animals, wild and domestic, and try to heal and find homes for them. Sophia wants to be a veterinarian one day and so was drawn to the idea of volunteering for the SPCA. Unfortunately, you have to be 16 in order to volunteer at the facility. So we decided as a family to begin fostering dogs through the SPCA. We attended foster training in January and had our first foster dog that week! We have fostered dogs as young as a few weeks and as old as 9. All have gone on be adopted by loving families. After Harvey hit, we spent a day helping unload and sort all of the donations that came in from across the nation to help Houston's flooded pets. We are walking to celebrate the SPCA and all it does every day for the animals in and around the Houston area.
